Adult Christian Education

The Very Rev. Sara Potter

Part of the mission of St. Alban's is to be a community  "devoted to God through prayer, study and action." The Adult Christian Education ministry provides opportunities to grow in our faith and understanding of God's presence in our lives.

Bible Study

Bible study meets every Wednesday evening from 6:30 - 7:30 pm in the library. (NOTE: Meetings are currently suspended).  We are currently studying the Gospel of John. Study is discussion oriented, and we are using N.T. Wright’s discussion guide for John.  No previous knowledge of the topic is required. While consistent attendance is helpful, one does not need to be in constant attendance to join in the discussion.  Our sessions are characterized by lively discussions as we are challenged by the marvelous structure of John and his remarkedly relevant themes.   Feel free to join the Bible study any Wednesday.  You will, of course, be most welcome.

Sunday Adult Forum
Adult Forum Coordinator: The Rev. Nancy Streufert  (

The adult spiritual forum at St. Alban's is a lively and spirited discussion of religion, philosophy, literature, history, and personal faith. Forums are held Sunday mornings from 9:15 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. in the library. Topics will vary throughout the year.

During Eastertide, celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with the Good Book Club and the Gospel of Matthew! Join Mother Nancy and Deacon Cindy via Zoom for a weekly facilitated discussion of Matthew’s compelling narrative of the life of Jesus, including the Sermon on the Mount, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Great Commission. The reading schedule – Easter Sunday, April 12 through the Feast of Pentecost, May 31 – is available at Meeting dates and times TBD.

Newcomer's Class

Saint Alban’s is pleased to be offering a course for newcomers Sunday mornings beginning Sunday, April 19.  The course will consist of eight sessions concluding on Sunday, June 7.  Each session will meet from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. via Zoom.  New members will be introduced to the congregation and welcomed to Saint Alban’s as soon after as possible (trusting we will able to gather for worship again by then!).

While the course is primarily intended for those new to Saint Alban’s any who wish to deepen their faith by returning to the basics of the faith are welcome.  Some of the topics covered during the course include: What is a life of faith? Why is Jesus Christ the focus of our faith? Why do we pray? How does the Holy Spirit animate our life in Christ?  We will be reading Foundations of Discipleship by Patrick Gahan during our time together.

The course will be facilitated by the Rector, the Very Rev. Sara Potter. Please feel free to contact her if you have any questions.  Please call the church office at 822-4102 or email Sara+ at by Monday, April 13 to register.
